How Long Does It Take To Renew an ITIN Number?

This process can take 7 weeks, and if delayed, it can take 11 weeks: almost 3 months of waiting. If you plan to file taxes this coming year, renew your ITIN.

Also, if your ITIN has not been used in three consecutive years, it will expire this December 31, 2019. 

Remember you only need to renew your ITIN if you must file a US Federal Tax Return.  

Filing a return without renewing an expired ITIN will delay its processing and some credits may not be allowed unless your ITIN is renewed.
